Adoption of agricultural technology innovations in South Kalimantan, particularly on swamp land, remains suboptimal despite various dissemination programs. This study identifies internal and external factors influencing farmers' technology adoption, including the institutional capacity of agricultural extension. It uses a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. Secondary data were collected through Google Scholar, Garuda, ResearchGate, and Statistics Indonesia publications, screened using inclusion and exclusion criteria, and analyzed through content analysis. The results show that adoption is influenced by internal factors (age, education, farming experience, capital, and land size) and external factors (innovation attributes, extension access, farmer groups, institutional networks, digital information access, local culture, and extension institutional capacity). Extension worker-to-farmer-group ratios in Banjar and Barito Kuala reach 1:23 and 1:28, above the ideal 1:15. Adoption is determined by both farmer characteristics and institutional capacity. Strengthening extension workers, farmer groups, and digital media is recommended, along with further quantitative research.
