Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Discovery Learning model on students’ learning outcomes in Economics at SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design involving two eleventh-grade classes: XI.P2.3 and XI.P2.2. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments consisting of validated multiple-choice items. The analysis used descriptive statistics to examine score distribution, mean differences, and learning improvement patterns. The results showed that class XI.P2.3 obtained a higher mean score (80.25) compared to XI.P2.2 (75.56), indicating a positive trend in students’ learning achievement after implementing Discovery Learning. The findings support previous research stating that Discovery Learning improves conceptual understanding, cognitive processing, and student engagement. In conclusion, the Discovery Learning model demonstrates potential as an effective instructional approach in Economics learning. Further research is recommended to explore inferential testing and classroom implementation variables.
