Model dan Tipe Kepemimpinan Pengasuh Pesantren dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Santri di Pesantren Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Al-Hasanah

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools perform dual roles as both managers and leaders, with responsibilities that include guidance, motivation, performance evaluation, and resource management. This study examines the role of leadership in improving the quality of students at Al-Hasanah Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Islamic Boarding School, Kademangan, Bondowoso. Leadership in the pesantren context involves nurturing, mentoring, and institutional management, implemented through a democratic leadership style that encourages active participation from all members and fosters an inclusive environment. This research employs a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the caregiver plays a significant role in shaping students’ character by integrating religious and general education through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes moral development, knowledge, and skills. The conclusion confirms that democratic leadership plays a crucial role in the advancement of pesantren. Future research is recommended to examine comparative leadership styles in other pesantren and their impacts on students’ achievement and independence.
