The Role of Islamic Education in Shaping Ethical and Moral Generation

Abstract

Moral decline among youth has become a pressing issue, necessitating effective educational strategies to strengthen ethical values. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic education in shaping an ethical and moral generation. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the research involved 200 students from Islamic-based institutions selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire covering aspects of Islamic education and moral character. Analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression using SPSS and AMOS software. The results indicate that Islamic education significantly contributes to the development of honesty, responsibility, empathy, and discipline, explaining 41.2% of the variance in students’ moral behavior. The findings conclude that Islamic education functions as both a source of knowledge and a transformative framework for character formation. Future research should adopt longitudinal and cross-cultural approaches to provide deeper insights into the sustainability of moral development
