This study examines the relevance and contribution of the phenomenological approach to the development of Islamic Community Development (ICD) as an academic field. Phenomenology is employed for its capacity to reveal subjective meanings, religious consciousness, and lived experiences of Muslim communities as foundations of social action. This research adopts a library-based method by reviewing key phenomenological works, peer-reviewed academic journals, and relevant previous studies. Analysis is conducted through thematic categorization, comparative literature review, and conceptual synthesis. The findings show that phenomenology offers an epistemological framework recognizing subjective experience as a valid source of socio-religious knowledge. It clarifies the relationship between spirituality, social consciousness, and empowerment practices, while emphasizing consciousness transformation as the basis of social change. Islamic values such as ukhuwah, ‘adl, and rahmah function as moral energies driving community development. The study’s novelty lies in positioning phenomenology as a bridge between social science and Islamic spirituality, reinforcing consciousness-based empowerment.
